Who is Selling on the Internet?

Let's say that you have written the all, time best in the world,
"How to do it" book that the Net has ever seen. Now you want to
establish a network (a BIG one) of affiliates to sell your book.
WAIT. You may make the biggest mistake in the affiliate world .
if you think that THEY are going to sell.

It is YOUR job to sell your book. It is the affiliate's job to
get people to your site and give you the CHANCE to sell your
book. Let's look at who does what.

AFFILIATE DO'S AND DON'TS
We can't cover it all, but let's focus on some important points.
First, their job is to get people to click through. To do this
they will use tools you provide, plus some of their own. They
should not be promoting a product or service similar to yours.
Your product should stand alone. They should be honest enough in
their promotion that when the visitor clicks through they are not
disappointed.

YOUR DO'S AND DON'TS
YOU will be doing the selling. When visitors arrive at your site,
they should expect to find an well-organized site. They should be
able to find the item they want quickly and easily. Most
important of all, they should have NO problem buying it. They
want to use a check, no problem. Want to order by credit card, no
problem. Want to buy more than one and send the others as gifts,
no problem. Are YOU set up this way?

The bottom line is not that you have to be perfect. Just begin
with the end in mind. Put yourself in the shoes of both the
affiliate and the buyer. Walk through the process in both cases,
looking for what's easy and what's hard. An affiliate
relationship is a partnership. You both have a role to play.
Remember that YOUR role is to sell and collect. Do that well, and
affiliates will beat a path to your door.
